Type III - Pieces - Consists of small portions of segments that are large enough to remain on circular wire sieve screen of proper diameter having 8 mm (0.315 inch) square openings formed by a wire of 2 mm (0.0787 inch) diameter.
Size A - Large -20 or fewer whole segments per 100 grams of fruit. 1/
Size B - Medium -21 to 35 whole segments per 100 grams of fruit. 1/
Size C - Small -36 or more whole segments per 100 grams of fruit. 1/
Size D - Mixed - A mixture of two or more single sizes. 1/

3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.
3.1 Finished product:
3.1.1 Processing: The product shall be prepared from sound, mature oranges of the variety Citrus reticulate Blanco and packed in water or other suitable liquid packing medium. The fruit shall be properly washed and peeled, and the membrane and seeds shall have been substantially removed from the segments. Peeled fruit will be washed and sanitized after handling or after any opportunity for contamination and just prior to packing.
3.1.2 Flavor and odor: The product shall have a normal flavor and odor, free from objectionable foreign flavors or odors.
